Enrolment
Compass Catholic Community is a learning community purposefully designed to be a place for:
- 17 to 24 year olds who are disengaged from education and employment
- Young people who have not yet thrived in mainstream schooling to reattach and reengage with their learning
- Young people in the community of Davoren Park and surrounds, and more broadly for young people in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide
- Young people who may find finances a barrier to learning
- Young parents and carers of children under school age
- All to experience and live out the Catholic Social Teachings
The school is also designed to have optimal ratios of teacher to students (1:12) and to ensure a physically and psychologically safe environment for all staff and students.
There are three basic enrolment criteria that must be met by all students enrolling at Compass:
- between the ages of 17 and 24
- Have a Working With Children Check (or work with us to gain one)
- Are able to get to Compass themselves (we provide public transport support)
Prior to a student enrolling, there is also a process that is undertaken by Compass staff to review any social, emotional or behavioural challenges that a student is facing, to determine how best we can support the student.
In the event that enrolments are reaching capacity, students who meet the above three basic criteria will THEN be given preference using the below hierarchical criteria:
- Young people without their SACE
- Parents or carers of children
- Young people who are aged 21-24
- Young people from Davoren Park and immediately surrounding suburbs
- Young people living independently
All enrolment offers are made at the discretion of the Principal.
