Compass is:

  • a senior school (Year 11 and 12)
  • fee free
  • co-educational (that means for all genders)
  • for young people aged 17-24
  • located in Davoren Park

We are a Learning Community for young people in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide who may have faced barriers to living a life that is meaningful to them; who are experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties which have become obstacles to their attendance and completion of mainstream schooling.

Nothing!  We are a fee free school.  We cover the cost of all your schooling, as well as excursions and other activities you might opt into.

Compass is for people aged over 17, and 24 and under.

(You must be aged 17 to commence at Compass)

A compass is an essential tool for any journey. It gives us valuable information, but doesn’t tell us where to go, or even how to get there. But once we know where we want to go, it points the way – without judgement.

In terms of latitude and longitude, Compass Catholic Community will be at 34°41’09”S 138º40’22”E – a place where everyone belongs, a place where everyone can start, a place from which adventures will occur, and a place that you can always come back to.

The focus is on you, and where you want to go. When you start, we will introduce you to a Learning Facilitator (teacher) who will be your ‘person’. They will work with you to move on your journey – with short, medium, and long-term goals. So no subjects, no bells, no uniforms. But lots of projects, workshops, and VET opportunities that you co-design around your interests, passions and goals. You will also have a Learning Supporter (Youth Worker) who will support you in your learning, and also with your wellbeing and practical supports in our community.

Definitely! Your Learning Facilitator will work with you to ensure that your journey with Compass includes achieving your SACE. This can be done in stacks of different ways, all based around what you are interested in.

We offer on-site childminding for any pre-kindy aged kiddos that our students have care of. Your little person can be with our Early Years Lead and the team, in our purpose built space, safe and cared for, while you focus on your education. This is also available at no cost to students.

One of the great things about Compass is that we have rolling enrolments. So no need to wait until the next year, or the next semester... Ask about the next available starting date when you attend an information session.

We get it. It can be intimidating to think about heading back to school when you haven’t been to one for a long time. But Compass is designed specifically with you in mind.

We can’t wait to meet you, talk about your concerns, and start to work together to plan what your journey is going to look like. We have heaps of supports in place for your wellbeing, including youth workers that we call Learning Supporters, on site, to support you as you journey with us.

No uniforms here. Wear what you feel comfortable in, so you can focus on what matters to you.

Yep, that’s right! However we are here for people from all backgrounds, of all faiths or even no faith.

Our Catholic values lead us to express ourselves in service – and Compass is all about that. We are a place that values individuals, and their journey – you won’t get any judgement here.
